Simple poker affiliate terminology

To be a successful poker affiliate, you need to know two important terms when signing up to any poker related affiliate program.

1. CPA = Cost Per Acquisition. This stands for what the poker room is willing to pay you, the affiliate for referring a new real money player to their poker site. With CPA, you are paid one time only after that player has fulfilled a minimum basic requirement. This varies depending on the poker room. The CPA is never a set rate. If you have the ability to bring a large number of players, you can negotiate for a higher CPA rate. Sometimes its not the best move to sign up using CPA.

2. MGR or Revenue Share = A percentage of the gross rake created by your referred players. With gross revenue or MGR, you have the ability to achieve residual income. You can get paid for the life of your referred players as long as they play real money poker. There are two sides of the coin with rev share. You either need a lot of little players referred under you, or a couple of big whales. Of course you could have a mix too. If your players play a lot and contribute a lot of rake to the house. You will receive a portion of that rake as payment for being a poker room host.
